Happy Pride Month! We are excited to join our community in celebrating and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. At Vuori, we believe EVERYONE should be able to live a happy and healthy life. This month, as part of our commitment to support the work of nonprofits dedicated to providing safe and inclusive environments for the LGBTQIA+ community, we want to highlight three specific organizations.
The Trevor Project is an American nonprofit organization founded in 1998 focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. Through a toll-free telephone number, it operates The Trevor Lifeline, a confidential service that offers trained counselors. Donations to this nonprofit support their goal to serve an additional 100,000 LGBTQ young people with free, confidential crisis counseling.
The Ali Forney Center (AFC) is the biggest LGBTQ+ youth homeless shelter in the U.S. According to AFC, it “assists nearly 1,400 youths per year through a 24-hour drop-in center, which provides over 70,000 meals annually, medical and mental health services through an on-site clinic, and a scattered site housing program.” Donations to this nonprofit support to provide life-saving services to over 2,000 homeless LGBTQ youth every single year.
GLSEN works in the US to cultivate a safe and supportive school environment for all students regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. GLSEN is focused on ending discrimination, harassment and bullying related to sexual orientation and gender identity in schools nationwide. Composed of educators, students and various local GLSEN chapters, the nonprofit aims to create safe environments for kids in kindergarten through 12th grade through inclusive policies and curriculum. Donations to this nonprofit support transforming our nation's schools into safe and affirming environments for all.
Take pride in supporting these organizations!
